Bells Palsy Diagnosis

One week after Alisz's birth, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. The simple definition is a form of temporary facial paralysis. It is the most common cause of facial paralysis and typically affects just one side of the face. Most individuals get better within 2 weeks and recover completely within 3 to 6 months or up to a year.

In the beginning, I had a hard time moving the left side of my face, opening my mouth and was unable to close my eye all the way. The doctor put me on prescriptions right away and my symptoms seem to have improved significantly from the onset. My eye is still not closing all the way and this makes it dry, plus I am unable to wear my contacts. I'm also still unable to open my mouth all the way, but it is improved. Hopefully this will be a very mild case like the Shingles episode I had earlier this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
