There's a New Baby in the House

I love to sleep. (During the day.)

Kasia loves to help out with everything.

Sleeping again.

Julianna asks to cuddle everyday when she comes home from school.

Daddy at the Hospital

I almost forgot to post these pics of daddy working hard while mommy was recuperating at the hospital. He was painting and enjoying the History channel in one bed while I was in the other sleeping away.

Bells Palsy Diagnosis

One week after Alisz's birth, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. The simple definition is a form of temporary facial paralysis. It is the most common cause of facial paralysis and typically affects just one side of the face. Most individuals get better within 2 weeks and recover completely within 3 to 6 months or up to a year.

In the beginning, I had a hard time moving the left side of my face, opening my mouth and was unable to close my eye all the way. The doctor put me on prescriptions right away and my symptoms seem to have improved significantly from the onset. My eye is still not closing all the way and this makes it dry, plus I am unable to wear my contacts. I'm also still unable to open my mouth all the way, but it is improved. Hopefully this will be a very mild case like the Shingles episode I had earlier this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Visitors are Fun

Grandma Dolly, Grandpa Fred, Simona, Dan, Aunt Jessie and Rien all came over for a visit after apple picking. Everyone loved holding Alisz.

Official Stats: ALISZ ELIZABETH BUYAKI

5:12 pm

9 lbs 12 oz 21 in

They say it's (labor & delivery) is easier each time you go through it. I'm here to say it's not. At least not for me. Jason says Alisz just slipped right on out, but I was the one without an epidural or any pain meds. I felt EVERYTHING!!! I didn't curse or yell at Jason, but there was a lot of screaming and crying.

And recovery has been much slower the third time around. Thank goodness we have the help of Grandma Dolly and Aunt Reenie for two weeks. I've needed all the extra hands to wrangle Kasia away from her 'baby' and get Juls to and from the bus stop. Thanks for the help!

Day One at the Hospital

Big Sisters holding their new baby. Julianna just couldn't believe she came out of mommy's tummy. Kasia said she wasn't 'yucky', which is a good thing in her mind.

I look back at these two photos and I'm amazed she came out of me! The hospital staff at Martha Jefferson was great and my doctors were terrific.

Praying Mantis

It's a Praying Mantis .....

This is really one of the best parts about living out here. Julianna loves finding bugs and stuff. Daddy brought this one up to the back porch for us to watch. I think it was watching us more.

Kindergarten

The day finally arrived. KINDERGARTEN. It was a very exciting morning getting up and going out to the end of the drive to wait for the school bus. Julianna was ready to start last year and is more than ready this year. I can only hope that she doesn't lose her excitement for school. At least not too soon. Kasia wasn't too sad when the bus pulled away -- I think that was because she had her own snack and juice box waiting for her back at the house.

Garden Goodies

So many goodies from our garden. The girls love seeing what daddy is pulling out of the leaves. They want more watermelons. Jason is already planning next year's space.

Gary & Suzie's Wedding Weekend

Baltimore, MD August 18th

Jason and I had so much fun seeing old friends at the rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception that we didn't take any pictures --- except this one of us. I can get him out of a t-shirt and jeans on occasion. The girls hung out at Aunt Reenie and Uncle Ralph's playing in the pool and having a good ole' time. It was nice having adults only time two days in a row. Sunday morning brunch gave the girls time to visit with Aunt Robyn, Uncle Jeff and Rylie. They had a lot of fun seeing Rylie again.

Here's a video of the girls playing.

Sibling Tour at Martha Jefferson Hospital

The hospital we will delivering the newest Baby Buyaki had a Sibling Tour in August. The kids were able to take a favorite doll and peek in the nursery at a brand new, crying baby.

Cousin Rien Sleepover

Cousin Rien came over for a couple nights. We had fun playing in the big tub with bubbles. Also had lots of fun with arts and crafts.

Beach Week

We (the girls and I) spent a whole week at Sandbridge Beach, VA with Aunt Doreen, Uncle Ralph and Aunt Sharon. Jason took us down and then came back for a couple days at the end of the week. This was our first trip to Sandbridge (about 20 min. south of VA Beach) and we loved everything about it.

I think Julianna's favorite part was waking up very early to see the sunrise with Daddy. Kasia loved playing in the sand. Jason loved playing in the waves (this was only his second time at a beach with real waves). He also liked chasing after the ghost crabs when the sun started to go down.

When Jason returned, we did take a mini hike through Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. It was very, very hot and we didn't see any wildlife, but it was a nice little park. Our other little trip was up to Virginia Beach for Hermit Crabs. The girls think they are pretty cool, but need to do more stuff than hang out in the shell.

Kindergarten Already ?!@#$

Julianna is going to Kindergarten Camp this week. Her school runs a mini camp to help prepare the little ones before their first day.

She was so excited to be catching the bus. She's been waiting to ride the bus FOREVER.

Kasia, however, was very upset once the bus closed its doors and pulled away.

Foley/Rubright Wedding

Uncle Foley got Married!!!

Sat. July 14th was a special day. We attended the wedding celebration of Jason & Sharon. Jason is "Uncle Foley" to the kids and has a very special place in Julianna's heart. In fact, Juls was very sad once she understood she wouldn't be the one getting married. But, she was able to play an important part as Flower Girl.

Uncle Foley and Juls!

Julianna danced daddy's feet off.
